The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
