Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 "In gardens and springs. 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
