The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
