The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the breath of morning 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
