The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
