The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
