But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
