Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
