Al-Aadeyaat
The Galloppers (Al-Aadeyaat)
11 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Afternoon (Al-'Asr) before Bounty (Al-Kawthar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the snorting runners (the horses), 1 striking sparks of fire with their hooves, 2 Then those that make raids at morn, 3 and raising clouds of dust, 4 And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;- 5 Verily man is most ungrateful to his Lord; 6 To this he himself shall bear witness. 7 And is intractable in his love of worldly goods. 8 ۞ Does he not know that when that which is in the graves is overthrown, 9 and that which is in the breasts is brought out -- 10 On that day their Lord surely knows all about them! 11
