Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
