The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
