He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
