The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
