Animals (Al-An 'aam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath created the heavens and the earth, and hath appointed darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve ascribe rivals unto their Lord. 1 It is He who has created you out of clay, and then has decreed a term [for you], a term known [only] to Him. Yet you are still in doubt, 2 And He is Allah in the heavens and in the earth; He knows your secret (thoughts) and your open (words), and He knows what you earn. 3 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord but that therefrom they have been backsliders. 4 And now they reject the truth when it reaches them: but soon shall they learn the reality of what they used to mock at. 5 Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others. 6 And had We sent down unto thee a Book written upon parchment so that they could have touched it with their hands, those who disbelieve would have said: this is naught but magic manifest. 7 They ask: 'Why has no angel been sent down to him' If We had sent down an angel, their fate would have been determined and they would never have been respited. 8 Indeed, if We had sent an angel as messenger, We would have made him in the form of a man as well, and would have thus added to their confusion. 9 And certainly, O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) the Noble Messengers before you have also been mocked at, so those who laughed at them were themselves ruined by their own mocking. 10
