The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
