The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
