The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ They will question thee concerning the spoils. Say: 'The spoils belong to God and the Messenger; so fear you God, and set things right between you, and obey you God and His Messenger, if you are believers.' 1 For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; 2 who establish Prayer and spend out of what We have provided them. 3 Those are they who are in truth believers. For them are grades (of honour) with their Lord, and pardon, and a bountiful provision. 4 Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; 5 Disputing with thee of the Truth after it had been made manifest, as if they were being driven to death visible. 6 When God promised to grant you (believers) victory over either one of the two groups, you wished to have control over the unarmed one. God decided to prove (to you) the truth of His promises and to destroy the unbelievers 7 in order that He might verify the truth and annul the falsehood, even though the wrongdoers hated it. 8 When you (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) were seeking the help of your Lord, so He answered your prayers that, “I will help you with a row of thousands of angels.” 9 And God ordained this only as a glad tiding, and that your hearts should thereby be set at rest - since no succour can come from any save God: verily, God is almighty, wise! 10
