Al-Anfaal 3 of 10
O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you hear (him speak); 20 And do not be like those who say: "We have heard," but do not hear. 21 ۞ The worst beasts before Allah are those who are deaf, dumb, and do not understand. 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 Believers, listen to God and the Messengers when they call you to that which gives you life. Know that God is between a man and his heart and that before Him you will all be brought together. 24 And guard against the mischief that will not only bring punishment to the wrong-doers among you. Know well that Allah is severe in punishment. 25 And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful. 26 O ye who believe! Betray not Allah and His messenger, nor knowingly betray your trusts. 27 And know that your property and your children are a temptation, and that Allah is He with Whom there is a mighty reward. 28

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
