The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of a clear Book, the Quran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and for aspiration to involve them in play – so they will shortly come to know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 They say: 'Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed! 6 “Why do you not bring angels to us, if you are truthful?” 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Even so do We [now] cause this [scorn of Our message] to pervade the hearts of those who are lost in sin, 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
