Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 for an appointed time." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
