AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
