Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 for an appointed time." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
