So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
