When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
