Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
