The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 and the Cry seized them in the morning; 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 such as We send down for those who are divisive, 90 Who have made the Quran into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 For all their deeds. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 We do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
