And assuredly the dwellers of Hijr belied the sent ones. 80 And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 Even as We sent down on the dividers 90 Those who break the Qur'an into parts. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 About what they used to do. 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know. 96 We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say. 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
