And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 By your Lord We shall question them one and all 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. 97 Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance. 98 And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain. 99
