The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. 1 (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). 2 Wherein they shall remain for ever: 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 (O Muhammad), if they do not believe in this Message, you will perhaps torment yourself to death with grief, sorrowing over them. 6 Behold, We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct; 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 We then thumped upon their ears in the Cave for a number of years. (* Put them to sleep.) 11 Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. 12
