The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 Surely, of this they have no knowledge, neither they nor their fathers; it is a monstrous word that comes from their mouths, they say nothing but a lie. 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better; 7 Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the cave, they said: Our Lord! grant us mercy from Thee, and provide for us a right course in our affair. 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
