Mary (Maryam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Sad. 1 [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah 2 Behold! he cried to his Lord in secret, 3 Praying: "O my Lord! infirm indeed are my bones, and the hair of my head doth glisten with grey: but never am I unblest, O my Lord, in my prayer to Thee! 4 And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir 5 "Who shall inherit me, and inherit (also) the posterity of Ya'qub (Jacob) (inheritance of the religious knowledge and Prophethood, not the wealth, etc.). And make him, my Lord, one with whom You are Well-pleased!". 6 'O Zachariah, We give you good tidings of a son, and he shall be called John (Yahya); a name We have never given before' 7 "How can I have a son, O Lord" he said, "when my wife is barren and I am old and decrepit?" 8 He replied: 'It shall be so; your Lord says: "It is easy for Me, indeed, I created you before time when you were not a thing." 9 He said: My Lord! give me a sign. He said: Your sign is that you will not be able to speak to the people three nights while in sound health. 10 Then he came out to his people from Al-Mihrab (a praying place or a private room, etc.), he told them by signs to glorify Allah's Praises in the morning and in the afternoon. 11 (To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth, 12 and tenderness [of heart] and purity. He was pious, 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. 14 Peace be upon him on the day he was born and the day he dies, and on him the day when he is raised up alive. 15
