Certainly Aaron had said to them even before (the return of Moses): "My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf. Surely your Lord is Most Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command." 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 From coming after me? Did you not disobey my command?" (And Moses pulled him by the hair). 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He replied: 'I saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so I cast it; this my soul prompted me to do' 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your god is only God. There is no other god but He. His knowledge extends over everything." 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Whispering to one another: "You have tarried but ten days." 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
