And indeed, even before [the return of Moses] had Aaron said unto them: "O my people! You are but being tempted to evil by this [idol] - for, behold, your [only] Sustainer is the Most Gracious! Follow me, then, and obey my bidding!" 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; 92 "That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?" 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 [Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 Musa (Moses) said: "Then go away! And verily, your (punishment) in this life will be that you will say: "Touch me not (i.e. you will live alone exiled away from mankind); and verily (for a future torment), you have a promise that will not fail. And look at your ilah (god), to which you have been devoted. We will certainly burn it, and scatter its particles in the sea." 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 and they shall murmur to one another, "You stayed only ten days on the earth" -- 103 We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner will say, "You remained not but one day." 104
