The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
