The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
