۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
