The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 those who humble themselves in their prayer, 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 pay their religious tax 4 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 5 Save in regard to their spouses and those whom their right hands own: so they are not blameworthy 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant, 8 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 9 These are they who are the heirs, 10 Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe place, 13 Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators. 14 And then, behold! after all this, you are destined to die; 15 Then surely on the day of resurrection you shall be raised. 16 We made several highways one over the other above you. We are not neglectful of creation. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat. 19 And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters. 20 And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat, 21 And on them and on the ship ye are carried. 22
