And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
