And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
