Messengers, eat what is wholesome and do good deeds: I am well aware of what you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 And were the truth to follow their desires there would have been corrupted the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein. Aye! We have come to them with their admonition; so it is from their admonition that they turn away. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 Until when We shall open upon them a portal of severe torment, and lo! thereat they are desparing. 77
