O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth (about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 “My verses were recited to you, so you used to turn back on your heels.” 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And certainly, you (O Muhammad SAW) call them to a Straight Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
