The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
