And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
