Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
