And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
