And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
