Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
