Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
