And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Do you see these - the idols whom you worship?" 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
