And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
